FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) is an advanced composite material combining high-strength continuous glass fiber reinforcements with a thermoset polymer resin matrix. Mechanically, FRP offers tensile strength comparable to structural mild steel (up to 300 MPa) while possessing a density of only 1.6 to 1.9 g/cm³ (approximately 70% lighter than steel). Unlike metals, FRP is completely immune to electrochemical corrosion, does not pit in saltwater or acids, and requires zero sandblasting or repainting over its 25+ year design life.
When engineered with Epoxy Novolac Vinyl Ester or Bisphenol resin barriers, our FRP chemical tanks safely contain concentrated Hydrochloric Acid (HCl up to 37%), Sulfuric Acid (H2SO4 up to 70%), Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH up to 50%), Sodium Hypochlorite, ferric chloride, alum, and high-salinity brine at operating temperatures up to 105°C–120°C. For extreme solvents, dual-laminate systems (PP/FRP or PVDF/FRP) provide complete containment integrity.
Molded FRP Gratings feature an interwoven continuous glass mesh wetted out in a heated compression mould, giving them equal bi-directional load bearing strength in both directions. They can be cut around pipes or complex equipment on-site without losing structural integrity. Pultruded FRP Gratings are manufactured with aligned continuous rovings pulled through a die, providing much higher unidirectional longitudinal stiffness, making them ideal for long-span walkways where intermediate steel supports are minimized.
